One of my favorite things about how Freud formulated arguments was that if he didn't have a solid backing (he was, after all, pioneering a new frontier of science and all), he'd turn to Goethe to back him up.

Here's a good one:

Thinking is easy, acting is difficult, and to put one's thoughts into action is the most difficult thing in the world.
